Klaus Prigge chose Arndt von Gavel to be his successor as Director of the “Knurrhahn”. Arndt von Gavel ultimately led the choir for just two years before moving with his family to Peru in 1967. But in that short time, he left his mark through his intensive choral work as well as several musical arrangements. In 1966 he directed the first LP recording „Die Knurrhähne singen alte Seemannslieder und Shanties“ (Vol. 2). After returning to Germany, Arndt von Gavel lived in Lütjenburg until his death in 2017.
